Trello is a kanban board, and it does that one thing very well: cards, lists, drag and drop, a handful of automation rules through Butler. It's easy to onboard anyone to in minutes.
Asana covers the same kanban-style board as one of several views, alongside lists, timelines and calendars, plus dependencies, custom fields and reporting. It's more capable but takes longer to set up properly.
