X Ad Tracking Link Generator: what it does
A clean X ad link uses a UTM-tagged landing URL plus the X Click ID (twclid) captured server-side. gtm.help uses this same pattern to attribute paid signups back to the exact ad that drove them.

Worked example
Here's one we ran earlier.
Landing page: https://gtm.help · Campaign: q2-saas-launch · Ad set: founders-uk · Ad: value-prop-1
Final URL
Copy into X Adshttps://gtm.help?utm_source=x&utm_medium=paid-social&utm_campaign=q2-saas-launch&utm_content=founders-uk_value-prop-1&utm_term=conversions
utm_content — ad set + ad name
Readable structureCombines the audience and creative into one value so you can compare performance by creative without needing a separate field in analytics.
X conversion setup
AttributionCreate a conversion event in X Ads Manager for the action on this landing page (e.g. signup). When the event fires, send the stored twclid back to X so the conversion is attributed to the original click.
How it works
Three steps, no account.
Paste the clean landing URL
No pre-filled parameters. The tool will add the UTM tags that X Ads and your analytics can read consistently.
Name every layer of the campaign
Campaign, ad set and ad names make the link readable in analytics and let you compare creative, audience and objective later without rebuilding reports.
Drop the link into X Ads and set up conversion tracking
Use the final URL in your X ad. Pair it with a conversion event in X Ads Manager so signups or purchases are attributed back to the exact click.
Questions
Common questions.
Why does this use UTMs?
UTMs are the standard way to tell analytics where a visitor came from. X Ads can read them, and most analytics tools group reports by utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign.
What is twclid?
twclid is X's click identifier. When someone clicks your ad, X appends it automatically. Your server or tool can store it and later send it back to X as a conversion event, so X knows which click led to the conversion.
Do I need to add the twclid manually?
No. X Ads appends the actual twclid when the ad is clicked. Make sure your landing page or tool stores it from the URL and sends it back to X when a conversion happens.
Can I use this link for other ad platforms?
The UTM structure works for any platform, but the twclid capture is X-specific. For LinkedIn, Google or Meta, use their own click IDs and keep the UTM naming consistent.
Is this tool free?
Yes. It runs in your browser, nothing is sent anywhere, and there's no signup or email capture.
