Lead Magnet Generator: what it does
A lead magnet works when it solves one small problem completely and immediately, and when the person who wants it is the person who'd buy from you. A generic ebook fails both tests, which is why ebook opt-in rates collapsed years ago.

Worked example
Here's one we ran earlier.
A £29/month booking app for independent UK hair salons
The no-show policy template salons actually use
30 minutes to buildA one-page policy plus the exact wording for telling a client about the deposit. Half an hour to write. Attracts owners in the middle of the problem, and the follow-up email is "want this enforced automatically?"
Chair profitability calculator
1 day · compoundsEnter chair rent, average ticket and utilisation, get profit per chair per week. A day to build, and it keeps working — calculators earn links and rank on their own.
The five-day switch plan
Half a day · highest intentA short email course on moving off a paper diary without losing bookings. Attracts exactly the people considering a switch and pre-handles the biggest objection before you ever pitch.
How it works
Three steps, no account.
Solve one thing, completely
A template someone can use in ten minutes beats a guide they'll read one day. Completion is what earns the reply to your first email.
Make it useless to non-buyers
If people outside your market want it, you're building a list you can't sell to. Narrow is the point.
Plan the next email before you build it
The magnet's job is to earn a first email that gets opened. If you don't know what that email says, the magnet is the wrong one.
Questions
Common questions.
What makes a good lead magnet?
It solves one specific problem in a single sitting, it's obviously useful to your buyer and nobody else, and it naturally sets up the thing you sell as the next step.
What's a good opt-in conversion rate?
1–3% on a general site-wide popup, 10–25% on a page-specific offer where the magnet matches what the page is about, and 30%+ on a tool or calculator that gives the result and offers to email it.
Are ebooks still effective lead magnets?
Rarely. They ask for reading time in return for an email, and people have learned they won't read it. Templates, calculators, checklists, teardowns and short email courses all outperform them.
Should I gate my lead magnet?
Gate the delivery, not the value. Show what's in it and let people see enough to trust it. Anything hidden entirely behind a form gets judged on the form's promise alone.
How many lead magnets do I need?
One good one beats five stale ones. Add a second only when you have a second distinct audience or a page with enough traffic to deserve its own offer.
