Hunter vs Findymail
Hunter is the better general-purpose tool — domain search, a decent free tier, a verifier everyone trusts. Findymail is worth knowing about if bounces are costing you domains, because it only returns addresses it has already verified.
- No affiliate links
- Public pricing only
- Updated by hand
Both answer the same question: what's this person's work email. The difference is what happens when the answer is uncertain. Hunter returns a confidence score and lets you decide. Findymail withholds anything it can't verify.
That matters because a 5% bounce rate on a cold campaign can get a domain filtered. Fewer, cleaner addresses often beat a longer list.
Side by side
Hunter and Findymail in short.
Hunter
Domain search, email finder and a widely used standalone verifier.
- Free
- Free plan with a small monthly search and verification allowance.
- Paid from
- Paid plans from roughly $34/month
Good at
- Domain search lists everyone it knows at a company, which is useful for mapping an account
- The verifier is used as a second opinion even by people who source elsewhere
- Simple API and a Google Sheets add-on
Weak at
- Coverage on smaller and non-US companies is average
- Returns guesses with a confidence score, so you still have to verify
Findymail
Email finder that only bills for verified addresses, with LinkedIn and Sales Navigator export.
- Free
- Free trial credits rather than an ongoing free plan.
- Paid from
- Paid plans from roughly $49/month
Good at
- Verification is built into the find step, so lists arrive clean
- Exports lists straight from Sales Navigator, which saves a scraping step
- Credits are consumed on results, not attempts
Weak at
- Smaller company, smaller ecosystem, fewer integrations
- No real free tier for ongoing light use

Where they actually diverge.
Pick one
Which one fits you.
Choose Hunter if
- You want a free allowance for occasional lookups
- You need every contact at a named account, not one person
- You already have a list source and just need verification
Choose Findymail if
- Bounces have already hurt a sending domain
- Your lists come out of LinkedIn Sales Navigator
- You'd rather pay per usable address than per attempt
When neither is the answer
For consumer or local businesses, skip both. The contact you need is usually on the website's contact page or a Google Business Profile.
Questions
Common questions.
Do I still need a separate verifier?
With Findymail, usually not. With Hunter, run a verification pass before sending — the finder returns pattern-based guesses on companies it hasn't seen.
What bounce rate is acceptable?
Keep it under about 3% on cold sends. Above 5%, mailbox providers start treating the domain as a list buyer, and warm-up won't rescue it.
